VS Code

These steps follow VS Code’s own documentation. WeHarness has not yet tested VS Code end to end; see Compatibility. You need an agent in VS Code that uses MCP servers, such as agent mode in GitHub Copilot Chat.

Add WeHarness to .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

{
"servers": {
"weharness": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.weharness.io/mcp"
}
}
}

If the file already has other servers, add the weharness entry inside the existing servers object. To use WeHarness in every project, add the same entry to your user MCP configuration (the MCP: Open User Configuration command).

  1. Start the server: select Start above the weharness entry in mcp.json, or use the MCP: List Servers command.
  2. VS Code opens your browser to WeHarness sign-in. Sign in and allow the access VS Code asks for.

VS Code stays signed in while you use it, for up to 90 days. See Sign-in and disconnect.

In the agent’s chat, ask:

List my WeHarness workspaces.

In the WeHarness app, Connect MCP now lists VS Code with when it was last used.

Delete the weharness entry from mcp.json. Removing it from VS Code does not end its sign-in with WeHarness. To stop it at once, select Disconnect beside it in Connect MCP.
